LATE WORK POLICY

In fairness to students who are seriously seeking an education, Mr. Steinhaus will not accept any late work.  I will not give partial credit.  I rarely give out “Extra Credit” assignments, and when I do, the only students eligible for the additional work are those who have completed ALL of the work to date.  Any work that “mysteriously” appears in my in-basket outside of deadlines, will mysteriously disappear by a similar miracle.   Additionally, any student who is absent regardless of the reason on a date a long-term project is due, must make arrangements to have the project turned in.  My parents would have written a note saying I was sick, too, so if you’ve had at least one week’s notice of a due date, that is THE ONE AND ONLY  due date.

For an EXCUSED absence, I will accept work ONLY within the following framework: if you miss one day, you have one day to make up that work. For example, if you miss Friday, return to school on Monday, you must turn in Friday’s and Monday’s work on Tuesday.  Same goes for multiple days.

For athletics, FFA, Band, Student Government, etc., if you do not get your work BEFORE you leave, please do not ask for make-up.  The school counts you as present for these school activities, and so do I.  These are not absences.  If one or more of these activities is more important to you than English, please drop my class and take English from your coach or advisor.

For an Unexcused absence or a Cut, there is NO make up work. You are choosing to miss school, and I will not co-sign your choice.

For In-school suspension you will receive the day’s assignment or some comparable work at my discretion, but for Suspensions Off Campus, you will not receive work, nor can you make up any.

**I will not accept any work from your student until you have both signed this document.**  Signing does not mean you necessarily approve of my policy, but simply that you acknowledge you have read it and are aware of its possible repercussions.  Thank you for your assistance in your child’s success.
