Position:                 Instructional Aide Vacancies – Two positions

 

1.       Part-Time, 2.75 hours/day from 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM

One-on-one with special needs student.

2.       Part-Time, 4.1 hours/day from 8:30 AM to 12:40 PM

One-on-one with special needs student.

                       

Work Year:             10 months year; 5 days a week

 

Salary:                    $ 9.37 to $10.33 hour

 

Start Date:              As Arranged

 

Minimum Qualifications:

PERSONAL QUALITIES: Maintain a professional appearance; meet District standards for physical and mental health; demonstrate enthusiasm for assignment; demonstrate ability to maintain cooperative relations with others.

                                   

            Graduation from high school and some applicable experience, education or training related to the program area.  Recent experience in working with children or youth groups desirable.   

 

Applicant must be NCLB (No Child Left Behind) compliant prior to employment by meeting one of the following requirements:  1)  Associate’s Degree or higher; 2) Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 units); or 3) Pass local NCLB compliant academic assessment test.  Please call Judy Jennings, Human Resources Officer, if you need information about the test.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

            Ability to understand and work effectively with children.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to engage in strenuous physical activities.  Ability to perform simple clerical work.  Ability to type or drive if required for the particular position.  Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with teachers, other employees, students, and parents.

 

            Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, not required.

 

Position Description:

Under the direction of a classroom teacher, assists in the classroom with the instruction of children as assigned.  Assists with duplication of materials, playground and lunchroom supervision; performs various clerical duties including typing, filing, copying, taking attendance; correcting tests and proctors examinations; prepares teaching aids and performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

1.         CREDENTIAL: California credential authorizing pupil personnel services.

 

2.         EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree and three years of successful teaching experience or experience in pupil personnel services desired.

 

3.         PERSONAL QUALITIES: Maintain a professional appearance; meet District standards for physical and mental health; demonstrate enthusiasm for assignment and willingness to participate in supervision of extracurricular activities; demonstrate ability to maintain cooperative relations with others.

 

4.                 PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS: Better than average recommendations from professionals who have acted as supervisor and observed or evaluated performance and scholastic attainment.

 

5.           BILINGUAL PREFERRED, but not required (English/Spanish).

Position Description:

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

 

1.                  Develop and implement a guidance and counseling advisory program; provide for academic guidance, discipline, counseling and referrals and; administer tests.

2.                  Assist staff with implementation of District or site developed programs including the design and implementation of the master schedule.

3.                  Screen and process conduct referrals, including suspensions as assigned.

4.                  Coordinate educational services, monitor performance, and report on progress of expelled students.

5.                  Assist with coordination, development and supervision of student activities and students before, during and after school.

6.                  Confer with parents, students, Student services personnel and SARB representatives regarding attendance.

7.                  Coordinate articulation activities with feeder elementary/middle schools, including orientation and pr-registration.

8.                  Oversee and participate in enrollment and class changes.

9.                  Assist with planning and implementing staff development activities; conduct in-service training as assigned.

10.              Counsel students with their individual educational problems.

11.              Enroll new and incoming students and contact previous school for pertinent information.

12.              Make recommendations concerning students who would benefit from psychological services.

13.              Gather information and prepare reports on students with certain problems and recommend appropriate referrals.

14.              Supervise maintenance of a cumulative file folder for each student.

15.              Arrange for and participate in conferences involving parents, students, and teachers.

16.              Supervise maintenance of a permanent record card for each student.  Check accuracy and completeness of entries, including courses and number of credits.

17.              Check student records for completion of graduation requirements.  Screen transcripts before information is transferred to the permanent record card.

18.              Schedule students into classes.  Makes necessary student program changes. Supervise maintenance of student schedules.

19.              Supervise maintenance of both print and computer files of information on vocations and occupations and make it available to students.

20.              Serve on committees for the alternative placement of student in Alternative Programs. 

21.              Counsel 8th grade students regarding their preparation for high school.

22.              Plan for the dissemination of career and vocational planning information to students and their parents.

23.              Supervise counseling office staff.

24.              Coordinate personal counseling services available to students.

25.              Monitor students, demonstrating academic difficulties; collaborate with staff in planning student interventions, and make appropriate referrals.

26.              Intervene in crisis situations; coordinate peer counseling for helping students help one another.

27.              Work with other staff and administration to address issues of school climate and safe environment.

28.              Assist in supervision and evaluation of counseling programs and classified personnel as assigned.

29.              Assess the needs and serve as liaison for counseling related programs e.g. Friday Night Live, Red Ribbon Week, DARE, Quest 2000, Academic Letters, etc.

30.              Coordinate District Assessment Program.

31.              Perform other duties as assigned.
