Welcome and review purp= ose of the District Advisory Committee (DAC)

Bill went over the purpose of the DAC, information/updates and excused himself to attend another meeting after introducing Patty Garrison. =

District Assistance Sur= vey

He welcomed Patty Garrison from the Butte County Office of Education and talked about the value of the District Assistance Survey (DAS) in helping determine district priorities. Patty ha= nded out copies and went over the organization and format of the District Assist= ance Survey (DAS). Patty’s p= urpose was to help facilitate the District Advisory Committee (DAC) complete the survey. Patty will return to = our December meeting to review results. Patty went through the overview of the survey and the seven componen= ts of the survey, which include, standards-based curriculum, instruction and assessment; professional development, human resources, data systems/data analysis/ongoing monitoring; parent and commun= ity involvement; fiscal operations; and governance and leadership. Each DAC member completed the surv= ey rating each element for level of implementation and noting written comments about items. Patty took the surveys to summarize the findings. She will return to the Decem= ber 6^th meeting to review the results and help us prioritize areas for improvement.=

During the discussion of the review items the following concerns were shared.. Pam Sheppard expressed concern that the (SPSA) Single Plan for Stud= ent Achievement being a guiding document of the school and should be aligned to= the LEA Plan. Stacy Doughman stat= ed a concern that DataDirector is being paid for and not being used much by teachers. Teacher DAC members= from other sites concurred with her observation about the use of the program. Pa= m Shepard brought up a concern about the critique of the cafeteria program as identif= ied in the Spring 2010 parent survey and what had be= en done about it. Bill had notified Nelda Andes who supervises the program. Pam said that lunches at BHS have gotten better= . Stacy asked if this information ha= d been given to Nelda so she knows changes are being noticed and are appreciated.<= o:p>

API and AYP Status Repo= rts 2010

Laura Dearden handed out and discussed the BUSD 2010 Growth Academic Performance Index Report with site level data. BUSD growth targets were and the status of each school noted. BES growth for 09-10 was 30 points= . Stacy Doughman commented that this= was outstanding something to be celebrated and that she was going to put this on the BES Marquee. The AYP R= 11;“Adequate Yearly Progress” report was discussed by Laura and Stacy. Laura stated that the elementary s= chool is not in Program Improvement at this time. Only Title I schools are identi= fied for program improvement status and BES is the only school receiving Title I funding.

School Site Councils, S= chool Data & Revision of SPSA Goals

BHS-First SSC meeting will be in November if the teacher representative can be established. This seems to an= issue with the teacher’s union.

The following dates have been established for BES-Oct. 28^th and RES-= Oct. 20^th

Laura handed out and discussed “LEA Plan, Updated Focus Area for 2009-11. There were the areas the DAC estab= lished as priorities for the 2010-11 school year and sh= ould be reflected in the establishment of SSC priorities for improvement strateg= ies.

The “Local Education Agency = Plan (LEAP) Key Components Summary 2009-11” was reviewed with revisions and additions noted in blue. She suggested that both of these documents be used with teachers and the SSC to update their school plans.

Updates:

ELA and Math Profession= al Development work with Butte COE.

BES, BMS and BHS schools are working with BCOE consultants on identifying essent= ial standards, which will lead to creating pacing guides and benchmark assessme= nts. This work will lead to more continuity between grade levels and courses.

School Safety Plans/Cri= sis Response Plan

Laura stated that there was an Crisis Response Team we= re now in place and the District Safety Committee meets regularly to work on imple= mentation of the Crisis Response Plan. Folders have been developed for school classrooms and members of the crisis response teams. Now sc= hools need to establish site-based safety goals for the individual school safety plans that accompany the crisis response plan.

Report from the DELAC/E= LAC

Vera passed out minutes and discussed. Bill stated that all students that started as freshman graduated as seniors last year. Vera menti= oned that there was not any (ELD) English-language Development support for 6-8.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Pam asked if that was a complaint issue. Vera said yes and expl= ained process of the ELD support and compliance.= Stacy commented on how we look at our Data for our Disability student. Stacy and Vera discussed. Vera stated that a= Mini Grant was awarded to DELAC.

Review of DAC and SSC suggested calendars

The committee updated the DAC calendar; the March date was changed to Monday, February 28^th. Dec= ember 6^th is the next DAC meeting.&nb= sp; Laura handed out a suggested School Site Council Calendar = for use by councils to maintain compliance for state and federal programs.=
